| Day 2 | Chichicastenango | THU or SUN GUATEMALA-CHICHICASTENANGO : Today is market day in Chichicastenango! At 07:00 a.m., you will be picked up at your hotel for transfer to Chichicastenango. Visit the most colorful and picturesque Indian open-air market in the country. Hundreds of Indians from the surrounding countryside gather to barter their goods and products. Also, witness the captivating religious ceremonies held on the steps and inside the 400-year old Church of Santo Tomas (No shorts or bathing suits are allowed inside the Church, PLEASE NO PHOTOGRAPHS INSIDE THE CHURCH). | Day 3 | Atitlan | FRI or MON CHICHICASTENGO-ATITLAN : This morning you will be transferred to Atitlan Lake, where at 09:00 a.m., you will board the motor launch to cross Lake Atitlan to the picturesque Indian village of Santiago Atitlan, one of the twelve lake-shore villages surrounding the Lake. Enjoy this bustling Indian community, where weavers work the colorful textiles. Overnight accommodations at Porta Hotel del Lago (see other below). (B) |
| Day 4 | Antigua | SAT or TUE ATITLAN-ANTIGUA : In the morning, transfer to Antigua Guatemala, the most important and enchanting city of colonial Guatemala. Founded by the Spaniards in 1543, nowadays Antigua Guatemala is a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and new buildings in colonial style. It was declared "Monument of America" in 1965. Visit the Central Plaza that is surrounded by the antique Cathedral, the Municipal Government Building, and the Palace of the Captains General; colonial churches and monasteries, primitive foot-looms where colorful textiles are woven, and a jade factory where this stone is worked into beautiful jewelry. | Day 5 | Guatemala | SUN or WED GUATEMALA : Day at leisure or take an optional full day excursion to TIKAL. ( For those going to Tikal they will depart early morning for the city of Flores where you will be motored over jungle trails to the 2,000 year old Capital of the Mayan Empire -Tikal - here, your tour guide will take you to visit the many pyramids, temples, palaces and buildings left by this great society. | Day 7 | Panama | TUE or FRI PANAMA : Panama City is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and beautiful city, Capital of the Republic of Panama, and located at the Pacific side of the American Continent. Built in 1519 by Pedro Arias Davila, a Spanish Governor, it has been considered as on of the most important cities of the Americas. You will visit the oldest sector of modern Panama, known as the Casco Viejo. Other points of interest are the famed flat arch or Santo Domingo Church, the beautiful gold- plated altar of the San Jose Church, the Panama Canal Museum, the National Theater, the National Cathedral, the Presidential Palace and other numerous colonial churches and monuments. Then your tour will continue to see modern Panama and The Banking District and its beautiful Skyscrapers .The city is and important center of international finance and is home to more than 120 banks. | Day 8 | Panama | WED or SAT PANAMA EMBERA VILLAGE : Depart in the morning by car and then by boat going thru a fascinating and dense jungle to visit the Embera Village.. You will arrive at a village of the Embera. Indians, one of seven indigenous tribes in Panama. The people of the Embera tribe will welcome you at the pier and gladly give you an idea on how they live. The Embera Indians will experience an authentic view into thousands of years of culture and human tradition, who already were there before the Europeans arrived to the Americas.
